This girl's quest to find the father of her baby went viral -- but now it's totally backfired

Natalie Amyot wanted to find the man she met in an Irish bar in Australia.

TWO DAYS AGO, a French woman named Natalie Amyot uploaded a video pleading for help in being reunited with her one night stand.

In the video, Amyot explains that she met a “really cute guy” in O’Malley’s Bar in Mooloolaba, Australia, and that it was “love at first sight”.

We had a beautiful night. The next morning I flew home to Paris and I lost my phone with his number on it.

Six months on, she was looking for help in being reunited with him because — you guessed it — she’s pregnant.

I’ve come back here to try and find him, because I have no family of my own. Please, please help me. Share this video and show your friends and hopefully he will see this.

The video has been viewed over 1.3 million times and shared by several media outlets.

Only problem, though? The whole thing is a fake.

Last night, Amyot posted a video entitled I Found Him where it was all revealed to be an elaborate marketing stunt. (Oh, and Natalie Amyot? Not her real name. Daily Mail reports that ‘Natalie Amyot’ is in fact an actress named Alizee Michel.)

The video shows ‘Amyot’ announcing, “I found him!” and then pointing to a man standing beside her who then addresses the viewers.

She did, but there’s a little twist. This has been a viral video for Holiday Mooloolaba. My name is Andy Sellar and I run a company called Sunny Coast Social Media and we do viral videos for businesses.
We just wanted to put Mooloolaba on the map, because it’s a wonderful place.

UGH.

Unfortunately, Sellar’s noble quest to put Mooloolaba seems to have backfired with tons of angry people taking to Facebook to say that they will be avoiding Mooloolaba at all costs now.

(There are also a lot of rather unsavoury comments being made at the girl’s expense.)

Lesson here? People do NOT like being tricked.

Take note, viral marketers.
