What to watch on TV tonight: Wednesday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Second Captains Live (RTÉ Two, 10pm)

Eoin McDevitt, Ken Early, Murph and co. return for a brand new season. Fresh off their Six Nations glory, Sean Cronin and Luke Fitzgerald will be on to talk to the lads, as will Nora Stapleton, Peter Stringer and Kieran McGeeney. More crucially, however, a swap will be made on the Good Wall. #TeamSonia

First Dates (Channel 4, 10pm)

Last week, we established that everyone and their mother loves First Dates. The reason is simple — we love living vicariously through other people’s awkward encounters. The forced conversation, the disastrous attempts at flirting, the one-liners — it’s all there and it’s back tonight. Settle in. #FirstDates

John Joe: Reality Bites (RTÉ Two, 9pm)

Boxer John Joe Nevin won a silver medal at London 2012 and soon announced his intention to turn professional. In April 2014, however, he experienced a setback when he sustained a serious leg injury. This documentary follows John Joe as he rehabilitates himself and attempts to get his career back on track.

Everyone’s talking about… Clarkson, what else?

The saga continues.

The Guardian reports that BBC is expected to announce that Clarkson’s contract will not be renewed, but Clarkson himself tweeted that he had yet to hear anything.

Elsewhere, Gillian Anderson has come out in support of Jeremy Clarkson and stated that Top Gear’s popularity stems from Clarkson’s “inappropriate behaviour”.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (The Big Issue)

Or flick over for…

  • Hillary Clinton: The Power of Women (BBC Two, 9pm) Possible future President discusses breaking the glass ceiling.
  • Little Fockers (RTÉ One, 9.35pm) Meet The Parents, but with babies.
  • The Ladykillers: Pest Detectives (BBC Two, 8pm) A programme about female pestkillers. At least it’s novel anyway.
  • The Jonathan Ross Show (UTV Ireland, 9pm) Wossy chats with Russell Crowe and Liz Hurley.
