Video: Australian trade minister breaks into song mid-interview

Craig Emerson defended the government’s controversial carbon tax in an unusual way…

AS THE AUSTRALIAN government attempts to justify a controversial carbon tax which many of the public are against one of Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s ministers chose an unusual way to defend the measure.

Trade Minister Craig Emerson was speaking to ABC television when he responded to claims from opposition leader Tony Abbott that the South Australian steel town Whyalla would be wiped off the map by the carbon tax.

The one-time prime ministerial, described by The Australian newspaper as the ‘government’s attack dog’, insisted this was not the case before bursting into song to the tune of the Skyhooks’ 1975 hit Horror Movie, singing “No Whyalla wipe-out there on my TV.”
