James McAvoy and Phil Schofield lead the bill on tonight’s show, along with comedian Sarah Millican and… uh… Barry Manilow? Yes, Barry Manilow. He’s going to be performing at the end of the show though, conveniently enabling everyone to switch off.
The X Factor (TV3, 8pm)
Following the frankly tragic elimination of Stevi, the remaining hopefuls must now battle for a place in next week’s semi-final. One of this week’s songs is chosen by the audience, who must have been extremely tempted to pick Doo Dah by Cartoons just to watch them squirm. #xfactor
The Saturday Night Show (RTE One, 9.45pm)
Tonight’s low-level international celebrity sitting through Brendan O’Connor’s questions with a ‘what am I doing here’ air is model Daisy Lowe. Alongside her will be Shane Ross, Caroline Morahan for some reason, and Sile Seoige singing her new charity Christmas single. Yes, really. #satnightshow
Everybody’s talking about: The Grumpy Cat movie
Grumpy Cat’s debut feature outing – called Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever – debuts on US TV tonight. Aubrey Plaza (aka April from Parks and Rec) is doing Grumpy Cat’s voice. And it’s apparently, surprisingly, not too bad at all. Even The Guardian called Grumpy Cat’s performance “just adorable”.
