The veteran Eastenders actress (Dot Cotton to you and me) has spoken of her failing sight, and how she can’t afford to stop working due to the financial crisis.
In a moving speech on BBC Radio 4′s The Thought Chamber, the 81-year-old said:
You might laugh at that and think “she’ll never be poor when she’s old” but I’ve not squirrelled away lots of money. I’ve had two pensions that have gone down by 50%.
