The govt do nothing to increase tourism numbers, they get criticised. The govt launches a major campaign to encourage tourism, they get criticised. I can’t believe I am writing something in support of the govt. But this ONE time I think it’d serve all the critics better to try & support the Gathering & ease off the negativity. Just this once.
What an embarrassment to the country.
Rory Gallagher must be turning in his grave.
This rubbish must really make our emigrants (that were banished by our governments financial genocide program)
so “proud”.
Like a bad wedding band, singing a Karaoke song.
@ reginald What exactly have the government done to entice people back? What does this massive campaign consist of? Where are the events? It seems to me that they’ve said we’re having The Gathering, made up some posters and done some advertising in the States and that’s it. Why should people go back?
I’ve been trying to, as The Kilkennys say, throw off the cloak of poverty for a while now but some b******s tied it to me good and tight. That aside I hope they make some money from their songs, can’t begrudge a few chaps from trying to get by in this day and age.
Can’t believe a respected band would stick their heads out with an effort like that. Terrible terrible attempt to score ‘The Shafting’. Another car crash song, cringe.
It’s like a Eurovision song
Forgetful
Sorry lads, good to see ye try tho
Here’s an apt theme song. Meja- ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY. Or maybe, The Beatles- MONEY (THAT’S WHAT I WANT).
Dance, Dance, Dance to the Radio!
So is this a cover of Joy Division’s Transmission ? hmmm….
I would like to ask all the above commentators how many of them actually live outside of Ireland. I do and have done for nearly 20 years now. This song will ring a bell in the hearts of those proud Irish people who live in other countries! Well done The Kilkennys and I hope you have a great year.
Best of luck with the tune lads , here is a wee bit of creativity that will welcome those coming home for the gathering 2013 , big plans for the summer http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qlCSj0lKGrk#!
That could be the gayest thing I’ve ever heard.
lads, there is so much negativity and begrudgery on this page over the song. give them a break. they are an extremely talented bunch of musicians and really nice guys. i like the song, i think its very catchy. i would like to see you all do something better!!!!
Feck off with your ‘begrudgery’! If someone doesn’t like a song it doesn’t make them begrudgers… what a silly lazy go-to comment to trot out whenever people show a difference in taste to yourself.
And one doesn’t need to be a hall-of-fame musician in order to have an opinion on a song either.
Carol the ironic thing is a lot here would do something better. I am sure they are lovely guys and talented musicians but the song is poor. Its nothing to do with begrudgery, I hope they do very well and make money from it but its just a really bad song. The actual production is quite well done but the lyrics, melody and chorus is awful…especially the lyrics. The problem is most bands like this just do covers week in and week out, song writing is a craft, a totally different talent. Do you know any other songs that they wrote themselves?
ok…tis fair sad that the old band that have tried to put somethin together for this national event are being crucified…quality song it’s not goin to be a world wide number one but it’s catchy…quality band fair play to them… Think ppl are more bitter over the big national event that we can’t afford No need ta take it out on these lads…
The Kilkennys are a great band …had many good nights listening to them..well done lads! :)
Like the song but hate the video . Would have loved to see scenes of Ireland in it and people arriving home at airports
