I prefer a real tree, with that brilliant smell, but it’s just better on the pocket to go the artificial route. Plus, it was a very bad selection of real trees this year!

Not a real Irish Christmas without a real tree.

Be it ever so small, sparse and Charlie-Brownish, there’s nothing to match a real tree in the corner.

Real tree. Part of the build up to Christmas going out to select one, bringing it home and decorating it. The smell in the house as well when you walk in.

Real for me. It helps to offset the fakery coming from the tv, particularly when the six-one is on!

Couldn’t afford any type of tree this year. We’ve a twig with one strand of tinsel tied on it in the corner and we’ll burn it on Christmas day to keep us warm.

If they grew in pink I’d get a real one but they don’t:(

Real tree, nothing beats that piney smell around the house!

Real tree, lives in a pot in the garden for 11 months of the year, comes into the house and gets decorated every Christmas for the past 5(ish, maybe a few more) years.

Cheap and very little care required. As long as it stays in a pot it probably won’t get too big for the house (but I’m willing to be corrected on this, it ain’t growing quickly anyway).

We’re lucky to have the space outside to keep it in.

I thought my parents were insane when once upon a time they spent a then-outrageous £100 on top of the range fake tree.

That was 20 years ago and it’s been used every Christmas since.

We have a little live tree for our daughters first Christmas, after Christmas we will plant it and watch them grow up together.

Fake – real trees are false economy

As much as I’d love a real tree, it’s cheaper to get a cheap fake tree that last years. Damn recession :(

Real…with a rootball. I purchase a live 8′ tree with its roots intact. The rootball is wrapped in burlap. I put it in a wooden tub that is covered by a treeskirt. New Year’s Day the tree comes down and is planted in the yard. I’ve done this for ten years and have my own pinetum
