A 15-YEAR-OLD girl who is dying of cancer has created a ‘bucket list’ which has become an internet hit after it was mentioned in the British parliament yesterday and is currently trending worldwide on Twitter.
Alice Pyne, from Cumbria in north-west England, could have just weeks to live and started a blog on Monday listing 17 things she would like to do before she dies.
Her blog states:
I’m 15 and I have terminal cancer.I’ve created a bucket list because there are so many things I still want to do in my life … some are possible, some will remain a dream.
My blog is to document this precious time with my family and friends, doing the things I want to do. You only have one life … live it!
She says on her blog that these are only “some of my bucket list”, the list being a reference to the 2007 film The Bucket List starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman in which two dying men draw up a to-do list to get through before they “kick the bucket.”
Her list includes making everyone sign up to be a bone marrow donor, to swim with sharks, to have a purple iPad, to meet boyband Take That and to go to the Cadbury World factory and eat loads of chocolate, all before she dies.
Her blog has garnered worldwide attention on Twitter with the hashtag #alicebucketlist continuing to trend on the microblogging site today.
Stars such as former England captian Rio Ferdinand, TV presenter Philip Schofield and even Hollywood actor Channing Tatum have been getting in on the act by tweeting the hashtag.
The Pyne family have reportedly turned down offers of donations with some people offering to help fulfil some of the bucket list requests.
Instead the family are asking for people to register as bone marrow donors.
It has also emerged that the wheels are in motion to set up a meeting with Take That.
Pyne’s blog became so popular that she was mentioned in the British parliament (subscription required) on Wednesday with prime minister David Cameron responding to a question from her local MP by describing Alice as “a very brave and admirable person.”
