This is the huge building that will house America’s very first Penneys

Primark is set to open a flagship store in Boston.

PENNEYS IS CONTINUING its quest for world domination, with plans to open the first US stores by the end of next year.

Of course the outlets will be called Primark – it’s only the Irish arm of the chain that’s called Penneys. The flagship 70,000 sq ft shop will open in the historic Burnham Building in Downtown Crossing, Boston in 2015.

The building used to house Filene’s department store in the city. It’s currently undergoing massive redevelopment while maintaining the historic front, and is known as one of the city’s most enduring landmarks.

Renovation works stalled in 2008, but have since been restarted to include retail, office and living space.
