RETAIL EXCELLENCE IRELAND says that this December is the worst month for retail sales in recent times.
Sales are expected to drop by 6.7% for the month when compared with December of last year.
The bad weather is believed to have taken a toll on retail figures as shoppers deferred or cancelled shopping plans because of the snow and ice.
Irish shoppers are now also more focused on price than brand, according to REI. The REI has already factored in the anticipated last minute rush tomorrow.
