HEINEKEN IRELAND HAS officially entered the cider market and launched its first cider, Orchard Thieves.

Described as “a distinct, refreshing drinking experience,” Orchard Thieves will be available on draught and in 330ml bottles or cans in pubs and off-licences across Ireland.

We’re confident that Orchard Thieves will steal the hearts of those seeking a brand that stands for straight-up, instant refreshment with a contemporary and bold edge.

Indeed the drink’s campaign centres around a fox encouraging people to “be bold”.

Heineken says the drink is catered specifically to Irish taste buds after various taste tests concluded that we like our cider “not too sweet, not too dry”.

But what does it actually taste like? We enlisted some secret tasters to try the new drink and give us their opinion.

Here was the verdict:

It’s nice, but very sweet. I couldn’t drink more than one or two of them.
It kind of tastes like Cidona, but it’s definitely the kind of thing I could see myself drinking in the summer.
It’s way too sweet, tastes like apple juice.
It’s very sweet. Tastes a bit like the apple version of those black jack sweets. It’s the kind of thing you’d drink at a first cousin’s 21st in an effort to seem hip and/or cool.
It’s really sweet — it’s almost pushing towards pear.

So there you are now.

What do you think? Will you be trying Orchard Thieves?
