OVER A DOZEN iconic sites around the world have ‘turned green’ to mark St Patrick’s Day.
Landmarks including Coit Tower in San Francisco, Niagara Falls, the ‘Armadillo’ Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow, the Empire State Building, and the Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid have turned green to the day.
The entire Spanish village of Moraira has also signed up for a ‘greening’, as has the Poznan stadium which will host two Irish games during Euro 2012.
Other landmarks participating in the Patrick’s Day event are South Africa’s Table Mountain, the Burj al Arab hotel in Dubai and the London Eye.
Tourism Ireland hopes that the global campaign will help to promote Ireland as a tourist destination.
