Does any other country’s national day get as much publicity from around the world?makes me proud to be Irish

For a tiny little island we do “good” on the world stage. No other country in the world can touch us when it comes to celebrating “Their” day!!!

That’s ok,I’ll take the compliment twice anyway :) still though,these countries don’t have to go to the bother of celebrating it….

Whether he was Welsh, or French, as I have heard on different occasions, does not really matter. He was enslaved within Ireland and chose to come back to his place of slavery, to enhance the lives of those who enslaved him. The Roman church tried to excommunicate him, when he was successful in bringing Christianity to Ireland. Jealousy, was apparently the motive. His response was to effectively excommunicate the whole Roman church itself. They had never before, or since,met with such an individual, other than another notorious rebel called Jesus. Fair play Paddy, You make me proud!.

Either that, or the church knew how to spin a good tale, even way back then…let’s face it, it wouldn’t be the first time…………
