  • Beautiful pictures. Brought back some great memories. Egypt is an amazing place. Was always fascinated by the place ever since we studied Tutankhamum in school. There is just so much culture and history there. I’d go back in a heart beat. Thanks for the article :)

    • Napoléon went to Egypt with a lot of men who were not soldiers or sailors but scientists of their day, they were responsible for cataloguing many of the buildings and saved them for future generations, the catalogue is several volumes and the quality of the work recognised world wide by egyptologists even today acting as a reference. The rosetta stone which was translated by a French man allowed us to read the hidden meaning of the writing form…. so before you say stupidly “The French robbed all the valuables” or “thats the French for you” open your minds and maybe a book or two.

  • Yes indeed Egypt is a great tourist attraction. Sorry that many people did not agree with my article at the top. I do know that Newegrange is older than the Egyptian pyramids. ‘

    • Theres evidence of civilisation and writing that predate Egypt too, such as Ancient Sumer, they had cuneiform, and the Sumerian Tablets of Creation formed the basis for the stories most people now refer to as Genesis. Except their version was a tad different, the character that became Yahweh wasn’t the good guy for a start..

    • Hi Francis. I did agree with what you said in your article.. Just wanted you to be aware that Ireland has so much to offer in history and culture and that though Egypt may be very old in terms of civilisation etc… There are so many more continents and civilisations that are much older. There is so much history dating back in time, and that the bible is not only just one history book. :-)

  • Was there on holiday about 4/5 years ago, all you really see is dirt poverty and corrupt police officers. If you want to see the real historic artefacts of the pyramids you’ll have to travel to France because the French robbed all the valuables.

  • Yes Egypt is a very nice tourist attraction. It is probably one of the worlds oldest civilisations. When at school we heard a lot about it in Reglious instructions as it featured in The life of God as he fled into Egypt to avoid the Roman Census
