How did yelling goats in pop videos become a thing?

One word: Internet.

YELLING GOATS IN pop videos. It’s now a thing. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

So how did this state of affairs come about?

Let us take you back to 2009. Way back then, this video of a goat yelling like a man went viral:

All was quiet for a while, except that there were a few more videos of goats yelling like people. (They seem to make a habit of it.)

Then a year or so later, BAM! Oprah and the yelling goat:

Again, there was quiet. But momentum was quietly building behind the yelling goats. Until a couple of weeks ago, when a supercut of ALL the yelling goats together went viral:

And here we reach the tipping point. Somehow, somewhere, someone thought of putting a yelling goat into a Taylor Swift video, resulting in this work of bizarre genius:

The ‘yelling goats in pop videos’ meme was born. Three days later, it’s reaching critical mass.

We have Jay-Z and Kanye West feat. yelling goats (insert Hova/Hoofa joke here):

Miley Cyrus feat. yelling goats:

Justin Bieber feat. yelling goats:

Where can we go from here? Only time will tell. Long live yelling goats.
