FORBES HAS RELEASED ITS list of the top 10 highest-earning Hollywood stars. The rankings are based on earnings generated between June 2009 and June 2010.

Forbes says it spoke to Hollywood agents, producers, managers and lawyers to estimate earnings, from film film appearances and endorsements.

Take a look: there are a few surprises in here…

    In at number 1 - by a long shot - is Johnny Depp. The Alice in Wonderland star pulled in a staggering m last year.

    In second place with m in his pocket, is comedian Ben Stiller. The Zoolander star is reported to be planning a sequel, and the latest instalment of his Fockers series is currently in post-production.

    Tom Hanks rolls up in third place on m. The Da Vinci Code actor has turned his attention to producing in recent years, which doesn't seem to be doing the bank account any harm.

    Adam Sandler takes fourth. He earned m, and is reportedly one of few actors commanding a minimum m fee per film.

    Landing just inside the top five, Leonardo di Caprio scooped m, including his earnings for hit flicks Inception and Shutter Island.

    Sixth place goes to Harry, sorry, Daniel Radcliffe and his m. The final book of the Harry Potter series has been split into two parts for its film release, with the first due out this November.
