gotta get down on fridays

Look at the 'chicken waffle burger' you can get in TGI Fridays

The restaurant chain just invented ‘drunch’.

TGI FRIDAYS HAVE introduced a new burger to some of their stores. It is perhaps the most unhealthy, artery-clogging, potentially life-changing object available this side of the Atlantic.

The concept? Fried chicken and bacon served between two Belgian-style waffles. You know, the sugary ones that usually come with chocolate.

This is what it looks like:

TGI Fridays TGI Fridays

It’s officially known as the chicken finger BLT waffle, but look: it’s a chicken waffle burger. It’s like brunch and dinner in one meal. “Drunch.”

Here’s what it looks like in, you know, real life:

So what’s it like? Well, it’s currently unavailable in Ireland. And a staff member at a Dublin outlet told DailyEdge.ie they weren’t aware of any plans to bring it in in the immediate future.

But the Manchester Evening News sent a tester along. Here’s what they had to say:

After squashing it with my hand it was still too big to fit in my mouth.

Its advantage over a donut burger is it is not sticky, but the occasional sugar crystals I usually love in a Belgian waffle are an unwelcome surprise when you have a mouthful of chicken and bacon. But it is far from a deal-breaker.

I was defeated and decided to take the second half of my sandwich home.

If you are a fan of the dessert/dinner mix then I suggest you give this a try. I am not sure I will ever be hungry enough to order one again but I do know I will be tackling the second half of my sandwich tonight for my tea.

Let’s just take a moment to ponder the immense burger experience that lies behind the sentence: “Its advantage over a donut burger is it is not sticky.”

When this creation arrives in Ireland, we will be the first to bring you news.
