Bizarre publicity photo of the day

HERE IS BOOKMAKER Paddy Power holding two prosthetic legs.

Confused? Well, it’s all in aid of the bookmaker Paddy Power’s new sponsorship deal with Ireland’s amputee footballers.

The Irish Amputee Football Association (IAFA), set up in April of last year, aims to promote and develop amputee football across the country and is opening training sessions to both male and female amputees of all ages and levels of fitness.

The national team travel to Manchester next month to take part in their first international tournament where they will face the likes of Germany, Poland and Great Britain.

“We are delighted to be on board with the Irish Amputee Football Association, every team member has been training hard in the run up to their first tournament and I’m certain that they’ll do us proud,” Power said today.

Simple question…Why make it look that their disability makes it harder for them to escape from you? How about spnsorship for the sake of sponsorship rather than publicity…

Paddy power, One of the worst company’s in this country and wealth destroyers We have way too many bookies in this country. How is it that local gov don’t deny planning when there is 5+ of them in small villages … It’s really insane …

PS …. As far as creativity prizes for this advert, they seem to fall short each time… I know it’s for charity, but when the money for a charity comes from less well off people in the first place who gamble, it’s all a bit of an oxymoron ( I think that’s the right word here correct if wrong )

Peter, I play for this team and am in the picture above and I understand you are not fully aware about our team but i’m going to inform you we are not a charity of any kind and I would like for you to tell me what gave you that impression.. this is a sponsorship which helps promote the sport we are trying to develop nationwide and are clearly delighted that paddy power has come on board.

I think the IAFA is an amazing association. I have no issue with the sponsorship in the sense that it will help promote the sport but what I am concerned with is there attempt at advertising “mild mannered fun” which for me personally and other people it is offensive. Here’s another example http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-gloucestershire-17110363 . I would like to wish the IAFA my support and hope they do us and themselves proud.

This was kind of on the lines of which I do agree with you… And don’t get me wrong im not a fan of the whole PC thing.. But I’m not sure if p power are using this as an advertisement, I think the photo was taken privately (this particular article I have read wrong )
