The Sound Barrier (RTÉ One, 9.35pm)

A documentary crew with access to the Cochlear Implant Unit of Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital captured some amazing moments for people given the chance to hear again, or for the very first time. A mother of two, a music-loving dad and a one-year-old girl are among the patients. #TheSoundBarrier 

Great Ormond Street (BBC 2, 9pm) 

More behind-the-scenes hospital reality as doctor’s at London’s huge children’s hospital struggle with sick kids and ethical dilemmas. #GreatOrmondStreet

The Greatest (BBC One, 11.45pm)

Pierce Brosnan, Susan Sarandon and Carey Mulligan star in this film about the death of a son and a visit from his pregnant girlfriend. #TheGreatest

Everyone’s talking about… #The Emmys

The nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards are out on Thursday, but what should be nominated?

The Guardian has some thoughts on this, and Mad Men, Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones and Broad City are all deserving in various categories. Jeffrey Tambor looks like a shoe-in for Transparent too, and it would be well deserved.
