Confessions of a Copper, Channel 4, 10pm
This new series features eight esteemed members of the police force spilling their guts on how the force has changed over the past fifty years. The first episode in the three-part series looks at, among other things, the integration of women into the force. Should make for some compelling viewing.
Die Hard 4.0, RTE, 9.35pm
Since the original won’t be airing on free-to-air television this Christmas, curl up and make do with the fourth installment of John McClane’s adventures. This one is about cyber terrorism, ooh. Yippee-ki-yay, etc.
Live at the Apollo, BBC 1, 11.05pm
The 10th (!) series of the popular stand-up showcase kicks off tonight with Sarah Millican serving as master of ceremonies for the evening. She will be joined by Joe Lycett and the ridiculously coiffed Russell Kane.
Everyone’s talking about: Luther US remake
Luther is one of the most critically acclaimed BBC series of the last few years. So really it was only a matter of time before a US network decided it was time to remake it.
Deadline reports that Fox is developing a remake, which will be written and produced by the original series creator Neil Cross. Idris Elba is on board to produce, but it is not known if he will reprise his role at all.
The original series enjoyed a three-season run on BBC, though Cross has floated the possibility of a movie adaptation starring Elba.
As for people’s reaction to the proposed US remake? A defiant “no thanks”.
