What to watch on TV tonight: Friday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Graham Norton Show (BBC One, 11.05pm)

Joining Graham on the couch for a cheeky tipple and a chat is Birdman star Michael Keaton, actor Ian McKellen, chef Jamie Oliver, comedian Victoria Wood and, wait for it, One Direction. There’s not going to be much room on that couch, is there?

Planes Trains and Automobiles (Film 4, 10.40pm)

Yes, the John Hughes classic may technically be a Thanksgiving film, but it’s still pretty much the perfect film to watch in the run up to Christmas. Eminently quotable, sweet and hilarious, it also features the late John Candy at the peak of his powers. What more could you possibly want?

The Late Late Show (RTE One, 9.35pm)

How Ryan has managed to come down from the excitement of last week’s Toy Show in time to host another show is beyond us, but we guess he’s a professional. Tonight he will be joined by Brendan O’Carroll and Olly Murs. (*keeps fingers crossed for surprise Ed Sheeran cameo*)

Everyone’s talking about…  Seth Rogen’s new TV show

AMC, the network responsible for Mad Men and Breaking Bad, have picked up a drama series developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to pilot. Preacher is an adaptation of a 1990s comic book series that follows a priest who merges with a creature who has escaped from heaven.

It also features an Irish vampire named Cassidy.

Seth Rogen will direct the pilot, which was written by Breaking Bad writer Sam Catlin. In a statement, he said:

Preacher has been our favorite comic since it first came out. Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it’s an incredible honor to be working on this. We promise we won’t make too many dick jokes and ruin it.
