What to watch on TV tonight: Sunday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

Irish Pictorial Weekly (RTÉ 1, 9.30pm)

One of RTÉ’s genuinely hilarious comedy shows returns tonight for a third season. Expect sketches to take the piss out of politicians, culture, modern Ireland, public figures, you, your family, and everything you love. Excellent.

Louis Theroux: By Reason of Insanity (BBC 2, 9pm)

Louis is back in business and his brand new documentary examining serious mental illnesses will finally be broadcast tonight. He’ll be taking a look at the nature of such illnesses, and what can be done to reintegrate patients into society once they have committed serious crimes but found not guilty by way of insanity.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows  (TV3, 9pm)

Robert Downey Jnr and Jude Law star in this blockbuster interpretation of detective Sherlock Holmes. Surprisingly, it’s not awful. We all have RDJ to thank for that. Perfect to nurse away that hangover you just can’t shake.

Everyone’s talking about… Jeremy Clarkson, again

Jeremy Clarkson has not made things much easier for himself since he was suspended from TopGear for allegedly punching a producer over the lack of a hot meal after filming. He went on a rant about the BBC while at a charity event in London on Thursday, saying that the motoring programme used to be great, but ‘f*cking bastard’ bosses ‘f*cked it up’.

However, the 54-year-old wrote a column in the Sunday Times today, saying his comments were all meant in jest and his choice language was to increase the value of his auction item, a lap of the TopGear track.

Er, ok then.

Poldark (BBC 1, 9pm) Everyone is going mad for this 1780s drama. Watch it tonight and get WITH IT, grandma.

The Strypes, Best Thing Since Cavan (BBC 2, 10pm) A short film by Julien Temple examining the success of young Cavan band The Strypes.

Indian Summers (Channel 4, 9pm) The drama about the decline of the British Empire in India has been captivating audiences.
