Women on the Inside (RTÉ1, 9.35pm)
It’s likely that your only insight into women’s prison is Orange is the New Black. Thank God, then, for this two-part documentary series, which offers an insight into life in Ireland’s women’s prisons.
The documentary, filmed in the Dóchas Centre in Dublin’s Mountjoy Prison Campus, features interviews with the prisoners and staff, and examines the issues facing the prison service. Promises to be fascinating and highly worthwhile.
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (TG4, 9pm)
Fun romantic comedy about two American women (Scarlett Johansson and Rebecca Hall) who are invited to spend a summer in Spain with an artist (Javier Bardem) and his bonkers ex-wife (Penelope Cruz, obv) to hilarious results. Warning: may make you want to book a holiday to Barcelona.
Fergal Quinn: Supermarket Revolutionary (TV3, 9pm)
Nora Owen sits down with Fergal Quinn AKA the man behind Superquinn and, more importantly, the man responsible for introducing us to Superquinn sausages. The wide-ranging interview explores Quinn’s contributions to the Irish supermarket landscape, his political career and selling Superquinn. And hopefully sausages.
Everybody’s talking about… Strictly Come Dancing
The 12th series of the show debuted last night to much fanfare. This year’s illustrious contestants include Caroline Flack, Pixie Lott, Andy Murray’s mam and Simon from Blue. It also marks the first series not to be hosted by Bruce Forsyth. Instead, Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will assume the reins.
