Want a private airport outside Dublin? Yours for just €3million...

It comes with a house, restaurant and “state of the art” hangar facilities. Oh, and 28 stables.

NO MORE WAITING around in line, no more frantically stuffing toiletries into small plastic bags – just stroll up to your waiting jet, and away into the clouds.

At least, we imagine that’s what owning a private airport must be like. Here’s what got us wondering: Weston Executive Airport in Lucan, west Dublin has been put up for sale. And the whole thing could be yours for less than the price of a mid-level Shrewsbury Road mansion.

The airport, formerly the property of tycoon Jim Mansfield, was put in receivership by Nama in April last year, and is now being offered by the receiver at a guide price of €3million.

It includes a “state of the art” hangar, a new terminal building and a large runway, according to estate agents Savills.

Worried about where to stay after a long flight? It also comes with its own period dwelling, Westonpark House, and 28 stables. Perfect for all your horses.

“This truly is a unique opportunity,” says James Higham of Savills UK. “We have not seen an airport of this size openly offered to the market in the UK or Ireland for a number of years.”

A number of “aviation-related tenants” currently use the airport, which caters to both corporate jets and helicopters and also includes a “Skyview” restaurant.

“All that is now needed is some ‘Michael O’Leary’ entrepreneurial spirit to drive the turnover of the business to new heights,” says Mark Reynolds of Savills.
