If this happened in Ireland, the college would just up the regristration fees the next year to cover the cost of the yoke. Any excuse to get more money..

Kind of surprised how flummoxed the author seems by this. Bizarre? Strange? It’s just a college thing. Dropping classes, dropping pianos – those things aren’t exactly renowned for logical antecedents, but were you all really scratching your heads for a more substantial link? If I’d had the crazy intelligence it takes to get into MIT in the first place, I’d be wanting to blow off some steam at this point in the semester too. Beats getting hammered.
