Video: Depardieu makes fun of Dublin flight urination incident

The French actor reprises his Obélix role to recreate the scene of controversial flight to Dublin last month.

FRENCH ACTOR Gérard Depardieu has been making light of a recent CityJet flight to Dublin, during which he urinated publicly in the plane’s cabin when unable to access the bathroom.

Cabin crew refused to allow him use the bathroom as the flight was preparing to take off in mid-August and witnesses said he then proceeded to urinate on the cabin floor. According to his friends, however, the actor resorted to using a bottle and apologised after accidentally spilling some of the urine.

Depardieu was accompanied on the flight by fellow Astérix and Obélix actor Edouard Baer.

In the following sketch made for French television, Depardieu reprises his Obélix character and is seated alongside Baer to recreate the plane incident – with one significant difference: Depardieu’s character says he ‘must have boar’ as the plane prepares to take off, instead of calling for the bathroom:
