Educating the East End (Channel 4, 9pm)
After the runaway success of last year’s Educating Yorkshire, the cameras are back – this time in a school in Walthamstow, east London. (Home of East 17, let’s not forget.) If it’s anything like as good as its predecessor, this is a surefire hit.
The Troubles I’ve Seen (UTV, 8.30pm)
This new UTV documentary looks back at the Troubles in Northern Ireland, as seen through the eyes of the journalists who reported on them. Some of the most horrifying atrocities from 40 years of conflict are recalled by newsmen – and in this show, they seem to be all men – including Kevin Myers, Eamonn Mallie and Jim McDowell.
Castles In The Sky (BBC2, 9pm)
One-off BBC drama starring Eddie Izzard. It tells the story of the man who invented radar during World War Two – an innovation that was dismissed at first but proved crucial to Britain’s survival.
Everybody’s talking about: Game Of Thrones
Hodor is taking a break from Game of Thrones. That’s according to Irish actor Kristian Nairn, who told ABC that Hodor and his young pal Bran Stark would not be returning for the show’s upcoming fifth season… because they’ve run out of storyline. He said:
We have a season off and we have a year’s hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books.

- The Expendables (TV3, 9pm) Ludicrous Sylvester Stallone action flick. Is it a parody? Nobody knows.
- Pet Island (RTÉ One, 7pm) RTE show about bonkers pet owners.
