So do like we do here in TheJournal.ie HQ and ignore everything you have left to do. Instead, get stuck into a serious debate on one of life’s most pressing issues. Possibly.

  Merry Christmas only if adding a ‘Happy New Year’. Can’t have two Happys together. i.e. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, as opposed to Happy Christmas & Happy New Year.

Actually santa, (like mum) would be associated more with upper class people from my experience. “Santy” is the norm for native Irish people! Haha! Snobs trying to disassociate themselves from saying santy is just sad.

He’s Santy to me and I say Santy to the kids I teach and then worry I’m teaching them bad Chrimbo grammar! I also have to stop myself saying “Ah would you not leave him out a bottle of Guinness?” when they start going on about milk and cookies! That’s before I even start worrying about the one kid determined to tell the rest that he’s not real! I wouldn’t change it for the world though, being a teacher at Christmas is as Christmassy as it gets!
