Clearly twenty-twelve, but here is the big question; What are we supposed to call this decade? The Seventies and the eighties and the nineties are all catchy sounding decades. The noughties is a bit of a crap name but at least it makes some sort of sense, but is this we are in now? The tensies, the one-sies, do we go into the “teens” next year?

I can’t wait for the twenties for it all to make sense again. That and prohibition. I’m looking forward to prohibition.

The growing number of grey faced Dail Bar regulars leading with Two-Twelve, Two-Thirteen, etc is giving me a tight uncomfortable feeling below my waistline. I think one of them said it wrong one day and just kept going with it to avoid embarrassment.

I wouldn’t call the year I was born “one thousand, nine hundred and seventy six” so I won’t call this “two thousand and twelve” either. It’s Twenty Twelve for me. Am a little surprised it’s in the minority in the poll though!

I think confusion grew with the turn of the century and the celebrations for the year 2000 (we all pronounced as two thousand) – it carried on wrongly from then in the same fashion….

Back in the last century how many people called the year “one thousand nine hundred and seven” ? No we said “nineteen ninety seven” so I’m going with “twenty twelve”

It twenty twelve. Same as it was nineteen twelve and not nineteen thousand and twelve.

Makes no sense that people don’t say Twenty Twelve when you consider how people say 1912 and how they will say 2112 in 100 years time.
