Everyone's talking about how 'teatox' makes you poo like crazy

“I’ve never farted so much in my life.”

TEATOX IS A nutrition and ‘cleansing’ programme that involves drinking special tea. The concept has been around for a couple of years.

It’s popular with Instagram celebrities, many of whom post photos of themselves with teatox brands and the #spon hashtag (meaning they’ve been paid to post it). Like Caggie Dunlop, above.

There are many brands of ‘teatox’. Many of them advertise themselves as a route to weight loss without dieting. SkinnyMint, for example, shares before-and-after photos with the tagline ”They’ve got results… What are you waiting for?”

Bootea, a UK brand, does the same. It says that ‘teatox’ is…

a fancy word to describe the way the body goes through a natural process of elimination, by removing unwanted ‘toxins’ and built up waste matter, from your body via the lungs, kidneys, bowels and skin.

But all anyone can talk about is how teatox makes you poo like a firehose.

Oh, and farts? There’ll be farts.

Journalist Megan Reynolds wrote a piece about how she tried a teatox and nothing really happened either way – although she does mention that

on the two block walk to my apartment, I am in mortal fear that I am possibly going to shit my pants.

Many users of social media have reported that teatox works for them. Like this person, and this person, and lots of others. And yes, a LOT of celebrity endorsements.

But mainly, people talk about how it makes you poo uncontrollably.

Even some teatox brands are getting in on the action.

So next time you see a hot celebrity on Instagram promoting teatox, think about how often they have to poo.
