CLEAN-CUT ‘COUNTRY’ singer Taylor Swift’s new single – a distinctly miffed breakup song – has become the fastest-ever selling song on iTunes.

The tune, called We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, is an ode to an ex-boyfriend who ditched her tunefully inoffensive music for his “way cooler” indie records.

What a douchebag. Anyway, MSN reports that WANEGBT (as fans have dubbed it) shot to the iTunes number one spot just 50 minutes after its release, beating the record set by Lady GaGa’s Born This Way.

Which makes it the music portal’s fastest selling download ever. Taylor’s pretty excited:

Anyway, the news has resulted in weird pride among Taylor’s legions of fans, known among themselves as “Swifties”.

This is how fans reacted when the singer premiered the song during a live webchat yesterday, while sitting on a strangely cheap-looking vinyl armchair. Great swaying.
