Not very wise blocking an on ramp when you should be merging at motorway speed. How I hate idiots who slow then pull on to motorway causing a lane of traffice to all have to break.

If I’m doing the limit, or just below it, and someone’s right up my bum, I’ll pull in to let them pass if possible. If not (I’m often on narrow bendy country roads) then I flash my hazards for a couple of seconds. If they don’t get the message, then I flash my rear fog lamps. That usually does the job. For the most part though, I’d rather have someone like that ahead of me rather than behind me. Stay safe peeps!

Sensible… except when merging onto a motorway, at which point you’re going to get someone killed eventually by trying to merge with 120kph traffic while doing 70kph yourself.

Not to mention, he’d have looked fairly stupid clinging to the wipers because the woman in the car that he was terrorising in the video decided that 190lb man -v- 100lb woman ends badly for the woman but 190lb man -v- 100lb woman driving 2000lb car ends badly for the man…

Its not for anyone to set pace in overtaking lane. I don’t like tailgaters but the overtaking lane is for overtaking not setting a pace

Mark – I didn’t say the driver in the video was being sensible, I made a general point based on the general topic of the video, not its specific situation. The drivers who tailgate will create many more accidents than those who try to stand up to them. When you’re not in a position to overtake safely you MUST give the choice of speed to the lead driver.

Cathal – I didn’t mention the overtaking lane, I’m talking about respect on roads where there is only one lane in each direction and in single lane one-way systems. Still don’t understand as he was talking about merging, not overtaking which is a totally different thing. It obviously involves something like overtaking, it’s not the usual sort as you’re getting in front of a car you were never actually behind. Still agree, just doesn’t seem to be relevant to the conversation.
