THE WORLD IS mourning one of its brightest stars today, after Robin Williams was found dead yesterday evening.
And many people who grew up with his movies are turning back to them tonight.
None of the terrestrial TV channels are showing a Williams film, although BBC One has cleared a space for Good Will Hunting on Thursday. Sky1 HD is showing Jumanji and Awakenings at 8pm and 10pm respectively this evening.
But if you’re missing the great man, and want to catch up, here’s which movies you can stream tonight on the different services in Ireland:
If you’re a Netflix user, you’ve got Good Will Hunting, The Birdcage, Toys, Insomnia, and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. Plus a few lesser-known works like The Fisher King, Deconstructing Harry and What Dreams May Come.
(If you’re not a Netflix user, you can sign up for a free month and then just cancel your subscription. Just saying.)
On Sky Movies…
Got access to Sky’s on-demand movie service? They have Mrs Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, Hook, Night At The Museum, The Butler and Awakenings.
iTunes probably has the biggest selection of Williams’ movies, but you’ll have to pay to buy or rent each one. The Irish store has Good Morning Vietnam (€3.99 to rent), Dead Poets Society (€11.99 to buy), Good Will Hunting (€9.99 to buy), Aladdin (a whacking €16.99 to buy), Patch Adams (€3.99 to rent), Insomnia (€2.99 to rent), The Birdcage (€3.99 rent), The Butler (€16.99 again), The Big Wedding (€4.99 to rent), and several more.
Other than that…
If you have access to a US or UK IP address and credit card, you’ll be able to access other movies through Hulu and Amazon Instant Video. Other than that, you’re thrown on the mercy of your DVD collection.
Enjoy the Williams marathon, everyone. We certainly will.
