Smyths are sending toy vouchers to the Dublin family whose home was burned out this week

Toy store say they hope “small gesture” will help the family this Christmas.

THE FAMILY WHOSE house was burned down in a blaze in the early hours of Tuesday morning have received a Christmas gift from Smyths.

Two children and four adults escaped the house fire.

Mother Charlene Murphy, 25, sustained facial injuries and a fractured pelvis, while three-month-old Mila had to be thrown from a window before being safely caught by a neighbour.

However, Mila’s father Derek Healy told RTÉ’s Liveline yesterday that Christmas presents purchased for 3-month-old Mila and her 2-year-old aunt Lola – who was also rescued from the fire – had been destroyed in the blaze.

Of course, people urged Smyths to help the family out.

Upon hearing about the family’s plight, Smyths Toys decided to step up to the plate and help the family replace the lost gifts.

A spokesman for Smyths confirmed to DailyEdge.ie that the store had sent the family vouchers, a gesture they hoped would go a small way towards making sure the family had a good Christmas in spite of the circumstances.

We were devastated when we heard of Mila and Charlene’s ordeal are are glad that we can help in any way possible. We know this small gesture won’t replace everything they lost but we hope it can still go some way towards ensuring they have the best Christmas possible.his pretty much sums up our thoughts.

The move was warmly received by members of the public.
