Slane is back… who would you like to headline?

The big announcement will be made on Tuesday.

IT’S BEEN CONFIRMED today that the big gig at Slane Castle will be back in 2013, with the all important lineup announcement expected on Tuesday.

But who will Lord Mountcharles (who’s now known as The 8th Marquess Conyngham, if you don’t mind) be having to stay? The Rolling Stones perhaps? Fleetwood Mac? AC/DC?

The last act to headline at the Co Meath venue was Kings of Leon in 2011, and the first was Thin Lizzy in 1981.

Who would you like to see on the stage in 2013? And would you shell out for a ticket to go?

  I’d fall out of my seat if I heard that news but its never going to happen. They were offered a gargantuan amount of money to do a reasonably short tour and they declined. We’ve a better chance of getting Zeppelin to play.

Pearl jam for me.

Also Metallica didn’t come here this summer for their Black Album tour – that would make a cracking Slane gig.

The Cure would also be perfect after their incredible set at electric picnic.

The Rolling Stones are obvious favourites but the ticket prices won’t get me excited. Springsteen said he’d never do an outdoor gig that size after ’85. To be honest it’s not my favourite venue. Nightmare to get out of. Neil Goung and Crazy horse could be touring next year as well. He rocked the place with Pearl Jam in ’93!

They should have a theme at least, where the bands are carefully selected, unlike a watered-down one day festival where the bands bear little relation to eachother.

A prog-fest like this perhaps? -

Rush , Muse, Radiohead, Mars Volta, Primus with some homegrown talent like And So I Watch You From Afar.
