A FEW WEEKS ago, Sharon Shannon posted a photo of herself and her adorable Dad, and announced that she was going to have “a small RANT”.
What followed was perhaps the greatest Facebook status of all-time.
She introduced her Dad.
This is my gorgeous Daddy. IJ Shannon. He is 87 years old.
And set about clearing up some rumours.
He DOES NOT play accordion.
She then revealed that there is an accordion-playing charlatan travelling around Ireland and pretending to be her father.
There is a man going around Ireland pretending to be ‘Sharon Shannon’s father’. This imposter apparently plays the accordion and is a horrid pushy man.
And he is demanding free pints everywhere he goes.
He is in his late 60′s or early 70′s. He demands free drink in every pub he goes into playing his accordion. He has been seen many times in Spiddal and at various festivals all over the country.
She then channeled the spirit of Liam Neeson in Taken.

And issued this threat.

And reiterated that her Dad is not the sort who plays the accordion and asks for free booze.
My father is a very shy and humble man of very few words.
Despite being posted a few weeks ago, the status has gone massively viral over the past 24 hours and now has 19,629 likes. Several people have even commented with stories of meeting the trickster in question.
The main takeaway here? Never, ever mess with Sharon Shannon.
