A PAIR OF THRILL SEEKERS scaled the Shandon Bell Tower in Cork – all in the name of a perfect selfie.
The Shandon Bells are one of Cork’s biggest tourist attractions, and an official tour allows visitors to ring the 18th century bells and see the inner workings of the Tower’s four clocks.
However, two visitors weren’t content with that – instead, they climbed to a high parapet and snapped photos of themselves standing extremely close to the edge of the Bell Tower.
The pair were spotted in their precarious position by a passer-by on Wolfe Tone St on Saturday afternoon – she says they spent around 20 minutes taking photos on top of the tower.
A spokesperson for the Bell Tower said that the spot where the daredevil duo chose to snap their selfies is around 40 metres off the ground, and would have been very difficult to climb up to.
“It is very high up all the way around, they would have had to be well able for it,” they said.
The Tower staff is asking people not to follow the pair’s lead. Mind yourself(ie).
