SANDWICH DELI P.B. Jams have been lauded for their act of kindness when they noticed something usual in the rubbish area.
Instagram user Greg King first spotted the sign in P.B. Jams window, which is addressed to the person who was going through the bins outside the shop looking for some food.
They request that the person go inside for a free lunch, no questions asked.
The Oklahoma shop’s owner, Ashley Jiron, spoke to local news station KFOR.
She said she was hurt when she discovered some of the bags in her bins had been torn open for food. She didn’t think twice about putting up the sign, but the person in question has yet to come in.
When they do though, there’s one of these waiting for them.
Jiron wrote on Facebook that she will not take down the sign until the person in question sees it.
She told KFOR:
I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help and we just needed someone to extend that hand and if I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being then I will definitely do it
The response on Facebook has been overwhelmingly positive.
Jiron is now taking comments asking for a ‘pay it forward’ programme and putting it into action, with #ShareTheNuts allowing strangers to buy a sandwich for those in need.
Oh, humanity. You ain’t so bad.
