RYANAIR HAVE DENIED reports of a “revolt” on a delayed flight to Paris earlier this month, in which passengers allegedly abused staff and stole duty free products.

The Independent UK reports that the incident took place on a flight from the Moroccan city of Rabat to Paris on the 11th of January, which had to make an unscheduled stop in Madrid after a passenger took ill.

On leaving Madrid, the passengers were informed that they would only be flying as far as Nantes, where they would be taken to Paris by bus the following morning due to noise restrictions at Beauvais airport.

At this, the furious passengers staged what staff described as a “barbaric” rebellion, abusing the staff and “pillaging the aircraft” for drinks, food, cigarettes and perfume.

One passenger told the French newspaper Metronews that they had reached their limit:

We were tired, on edge, because the situation was badly managed. We were hungry and thirsty and no one was giving us any information. After seven hours locked in a plane – instead of the scheduled two and a half – people need to eat. We simply helped ourselves.

However, a Ryanair spokesperson has said the reports are “inaccurate” and the alleged revolt did not happen:

The reports in the paper are inaccurate. There was no “mutiny” on arrival in Nantes. Passengers were provided with overnight hotel accommodation and were transferred to Paris Beauvais by coach the following morning.
