PIC: The “delicious” food astronauts eat in space

IT MIGHT LOOK like a tin of dog food, but this is actually a container of the finest dish space has to offer.

Astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield, who tweeted the pic today, said the gloopy brown and orange mixture is Russian space food: stew in a can.

“Delicious!” said Cmdr Hadfield of the floating can of gunge.

“I’m rethinking my dream of becoming an astronaut,” say the rest of us.

  @ Mart_n I think that’s why they’re concentrating on Mars; loads of new technological development and a chance to find out more. Sad to say, most of the missions to the moon, although very useful as way to get more knowledge about space-travel, came to the conclusion that the moon is a big rock without any life or valuable/previously undiscovered minerals.

  there is a high abundance of helium 3 on the moon, which is the fuel of the future. as soon as scientists master nuclear fusion, trips to the moon to harvest this.fuel will be commonplace.

Perhaps if we were all rationed 3 cans of this stuff every day (I’m sure it’s full of nutrition) and don’t bother with any other food type the obesity epidemic would be over.

There is thought to be a lot more of helium-3 on the moon than the earth. helium-3 is very rare on earth and is used in fusion reaction, a small amount of helium-3 could power an entire city like new york for years. If possible to mine the moon then the resource of helium could be worth billions and billion and billions. its getting it back is where the problem lies. I think the Chinese are planing something last I heard
