You know.. it’s probably not PC, or P-something, but it would be good for the sense of pulling together to have this on at night. I remember when I lived in Singapore & they played Majulah Singapura every evening – it gave a common touch point for everyone, just for a minute or so each day, to think about being who they were. No harm, and at no cost.

I agree with the comment that they should consider bringing it back. I don’t know how that would work but it might have some underlying positive effect on those of us who happened upon it of a night!

It impresses me, the way they play the National Anthem at the matches in Croke Park without a trace of self-consciousness. It give a great sense of solidarity.

You know when they say we are a nation of begrudgers, well all you negative commenters here are the epitome of negativity, begrudgery, and a down right pain in the ass lot!! Would ye all get a life, or if life is that bad and awful in Ireland, why are ye living here?? Bring back the anthem I say, let us be proud no matter how poor we are.

I used to love seeing that on tv as a child. I remember reading once that the filming for it was done when a talented RTE cameraman simply went out one day with his camera and just filmed what he came across in woods, lakes and by the sea, with some beautifully composed shots. It would be great to see it back on tv.

We still get a short religious video every evening on RTE about midnight which is even more twee and frankly bizarre

We used to see that late on Sunday nights as children.
Always reminded me of summer as a child in this beautiful country.
Not life is a lot harder for those if us in real trouble – loss of innocence and faith in Ireland from that time.

I remember that as a child. Loved the music and ticking clock

Find memories of this. There was an older version if it too that finished off with a plane taking off. It was a beautiful thing!

If your watching rte these days you must be in a bad way

Do a poll on the tv licence. Should we all be paying the tv licence? Maybe journal have already been there and done that.
