Ray Foley on 98FM… what’s the verdict?

HE’S A POLARISING force on Irish radio, and love him or hate him, Ray Foley was back on the airwaves this morning.

He’s moved from his lunchtime slot on the national station TodayFM to Dublin’s 98FM’s breakfast show, along with his sidekick JP.

It was announced in October that Foley would be making the move (admittedly from one of Denis O’Brien’s radio stations to another) and that KC would be taking over lunchtimes at TodayFM.

In a recent blog post Foley said that he:

… always expected my departure from Today FM would be as a result of me finally crossing the uncrossable line (wherever that is) and being escorted to the front door by security…

He added:

Now it’s time for a change and we’re both really excited by this opportunuity. We’ve done nearly everything we wanted to do at lunchtime and we should probably go and get excited about something else for a while before we get bored or unhappy and want to kill each other.

  Well that Amanda Brunker one seems to be flogging the sh1t outta what’s left of the dead carcass that is her career!! I suppose writing ‘novels’ that are only fit for bogroll & doing laughable newspaper columns are the way to go!! It’s nicely sign-posted for Nadia & Co. when the looks (and other things) start going southward!!

  Couldn’t agree more. I used to have to turn off Today FM after the news at 12. I can safely say I will never tune in to 98fm, EVER!
  
  Is is just my imagination or does Ray Foley only appeal to Culchies? I always thought that, so his move to a Dublin station surprised me, and I’d say his listener figures won’t stand up to what they were at TodayFM

  We’ll probably still hear him whenever we pop into a Spar in Dublin. Thank god hes off the national airwaves, I live in Dublin but would never listen to 98FM, 102, Q105 or whatever the hell they’re called. Dont like the way hes making himself out to be some sort of rebel here, appealing to the lowest common denominator is not rebellious.

I too was forced to listen to Ray Foley at work…he tries, but is just not funny and uses the same unfunny jokes over and over for months. at least it’s harmless enough tho…Ray Darcy must be the cause of 100s of fights each year with his condescending “relationship advice”

Glad he’s gone from Today FM.. We used to turn the station to Newstalk after Ray Darcy because we found him such a pain!! Won’t be tuning in to listen to him… Likes the sound of his own voice too much !

I was a Ray Foley fan, But I cant see myself changing from Newstalk’s Business Breakfast to listen to him . Great show

Always listened to Ray on Today fm, i always loved that show, but which show?????, its good to have the two lads back on air, i will listen when i can, but have always thought 98fm is a load of ball ox.

Don’t know why he thought going from a national radio station to a Dublin station was a step up, where only 1/3 of the population could listen if they wanted to. Strange.

  Rubbish..the guy is as bad on radio as he is on TV, his presenting on that take me out show is an embarrassment to Ireland. How he ever got the job only rte on the back scratchers in there could tell you. Get rid off ASAP and get some genuinely funny people.

Can’t tolerate Ian Dempsey at all, the men still thinks he’s dealing with kids on the den, the only saving grace for him is gift Grub. Ray Darcy is tolerable in small doses but was always glad of the break when he goes on Holiday. Foley is an aquired taste, that’s for sure, hated him at first but he kind of grows on you, when you learn not to take it seriously. Of course his ratings will fall going from a national to local station but I’d say in the long term he is being groomed to replace Dempsey!

Serious guys cheer the frick up!! Foley is truly a talent, he wouldn’t have got the gig on today fm or 98 if he wasn’t. I understand that some of you may not like him so much but there’s really no need to get so personal!! Just don’t listen or bother commenting if you’re that against him!! Love the shooow:)

What is wrong with you people. Clearly lacking in the sense of humour department. Ray Foley is fantastic on the radio. His show on Today Fm was a great break away from the usual boring shows on the radio, it was just a bit of craic, lighthearted fun. Something thats massively needed in this country. God knows there’s enough doom and gloom already without all you miserable whingers! I envy the Dublin listeners, really miss his show already. Feck the haters, keep up the good work Foley……
