Primark remove mannequins with protruding ribs after Twitter complaints

The window display was deemed ‘disgusting’ by many on social media.

PRIMARK REMOVED A mannequin with protruding ribs from their window display after a customer complained on Twitter.

Mel Fraser posted a photo of the window display in the Glasgow Braehead branch, which clearly shows the dummy’s visible ribcage under its bikini top.

The tweet has been retweeted over 1,650 times, with users saying the mannequin is ‘shocking’, ‘disgusting’, and ‘utterly terrifying’.

Writing on Instagram, Fraser distanced herself from ‘skinny bashing’, saying she just was concerned at the lack of representation for other body sizes.

And before I get anyone saying that I’m skinny bashing, I’m not, I’d just like to see mannequins in clothing stores being all different shapes and sizes rather than young girls thinking that this is the only way to be!!

Primark promptly replied after the tweet began gaining some traction.

Three days later, result. Primark confirmed that they had removed the display and that it will not be used again.
