PICTURES: Molly Malone and Phil Lynott in woolly hats

It’s getting cold out there lads.

DID YOU FEEL that nip in the air this morning?

Luckily some of Dublin’s most famous landmarks were well prepared as they donned woolly hats in aid of Innocent Smoothies’ Big Knit 2012.

James Connolly, Constance Markievicz, Molly Malone and Charles Stewart Parnell are among the statues which have been fitted with woolly hats to raise awareness for Age Action.

Innocent is calling on the people of Ireland to grab some knitting needles and make some tiny hats for bottles of smoothies. Bottles wearing hats are then sold around the country and 25c from each sale goes to Age Action.

You can download the patterns here. Go on, have a knitting party.
