A PETITION IN the UK has gone super viral this week – and it’s all about whether parents should be allowed to pierce their children’s ears.

The controversy started because of the Channel 5 show Blinging Up Baby – a programme where parents in the UK dress their children in high fashion clothes with other accessories to go with them.

Last week’s episode saw one mother piercing her four-month-old baby’s ears – and understandably some people were very upset:

So, on the back of this controversy, somebody set up a petition to have the activity banned in the UK.

It’s already been signed by over 34000 people and its aim is to:

Make it illegal for babies/toddlers to get their ears pierced. Set a minimum legal age requirement.

Of course, this is winning widespread support following the Blinging Up Baby episode. But there are also those that don’t really see it as an issue:

But the majority of the internet chat about the topic seems to fall down on the side that it shouldn’t be allowed

So, that’s another controversy for people to ponder.

Remind us never, ever to watch Blinging Up Baby though.
