Heartwarming Christmas tale of a stranger's generosity in Dublin pizzeria

Getting into the Christmas spirit.

LAST NIGHT REDDIT user and Frenchman living in Ireland Colchique went out for a meal to celebrate his partner’s birthday.

What happened was a tiny early Christmas miracle in Dublin city.

The pair went to Paulie’s Pizza in Beggars Bush, with a hankering for some Italian fare.

Colchique says:

When I asked the waiter for the bill at the end of the evening, the waiter look embarrassed, and started to say: “look, there is something I need to explain you. There was that guy, sitting over there…”

The waiter went on:

Every year at Christmas he picks a random table and pays for them. He paid for yours, so everything has been paid by him. Is this OK? We didn’t know what to do as we didn’t know how you would feel about it.

Colchique said he and his partner surprised and amazed “that a random, totally unknown stranger would do that out of pure altruism.”

They accepted the kind offer, and used the money they had with them to pay for tip for the waiter and split the rest between the two remaining tables in the restaurant.

A manager at Paulie’s Pizza has confirmed the tale to DailyEdge.ie, saying that the customer carries out the act every year in the spirit of Christmas.

Colchique has a message for the stranger:

Stranger if you’re reading these lines, this was very nice of you and reminded both my SO and I that not everyone and everything is this world is shite. We are very thankful.

Thanks to Colchique for allowing us to share his story.
