IT HAS BEEN quite the last 12 months for former Beatle Paul McCartney and in another landmark moment he was awarded France’s highest honour by the country’s president today.
Having got married, turned 70, and played a starring role at both the Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics opening ceremony in the last 12 months, Macca was in Paris today to be presented with the Legion of Honour.
It is the country’s highest honour and is the equivalent of a British knighthood which of course Macca, sorry Sir Macca, already has.
President Francois Hollande was on hand to pin the medal on the Liverpudlian rocker’s chest with the office of the president saying the award was for his entire body of work, Macca’s that is, not Francois’.
And proving that he’s not that much of an old codger, Macca was on his Twitter machine posting photos of his big day:
