Patricia Arquette defends controversial comments at the Oscars... It's the Dredge

Patricia Arquette has tried to clear up comments she made at the Oscars about ‘gay people and people of colour’. In the press room after winning the award for Best Supporting Actress, Arquette elaborated on her rousing speech about the pay gap:

It’s time for all women in America and all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of colour that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now.

Though the initial speech won praise, the press room comments lead to many people accusing Arquette of ‘white woman feminism’ that ignored minorities. Arquette has since tried to clarify her comments on Twitter:

Emma Watson sent Steve Carell a lovely thank-you note after he wore a pair of HeForShe cufflinks to the Oscars. Sharing the note over Twitter, Emma wrote that she “couldn’t be more proud” that Carell chose to support gender equality at the ceremony:
