This new nail polish changes colour if your drink has been spiked

The Undercover Colour nail polish range could help prevent sexual assault.

A MANICURE IS an essential for many women on a night out – but now it could help them detect if their drink has been spiked.

Fledgling company Undercover Colors has created a nail polish that will reveal the presence of any colourless, odourless date rape drugs.

All the wearer would have to do is dip a finger into their drink, then wait to see if it changes colour.

Undercover Colors was founded by four US engineering students – the nail polish is currently still in the development stages.

One of the founders, Ankesh Madan, told Higher Education Works:

All of us have been close to someone who has been through this terrible experience, and we began to focus on preventative solutions, especially those that could be integrated into products that women already use.

While most people are welcoming the invention, some are suggesting that it would be better if such a product were not needed at all:
