DIVISIVE COMEDY MRS Brown’s Boys has been named the best sitcom of the year at the National Television Awards in London.
The show won a Bafta last year and the Christmas Special drew in RTÉ’s third-highest viewing figures for 2012. Brendan O’Carroll’s show also took a massive jump in popularity in the UK last year with almost 9 million people tuning in on Christmas Eve.
O’Carroll accepted the National Television Award last night, along with his cast, and confirmed at the show last night that a film version of Mrs Brown’s Boys is on the way. Digital Spy reports that filming on Mrs Brown D’Movie will begin this autumn (even though he hasn’t written it yet) and the film will be released next June.
O’Carroll also told reporters that there is the possibility of a fourth series.
