MEN ARE MORE likely to exaggerate the symptoms of a common cold – but only 7 per cent want to be looked after by their Mammy when it hits.
A new survey by Uniflu has found that men are more likely to say they have the flu even when they know they are suffering from a mere cold.
Younger men are the greatest offenders, according to the iReach research.
About 30 per cent of men admitted that they had knowingly exaggerated their level of sickness, upping their cold to a flu. Just 19 per cent of women have done the same.
Some 13 per cent of men though actually believe that having a runny nose and cough constitutes the flu.
Whether they are exaggerating or not, only 7 per cent of men surveyed said they prefer to be looked after by their Mammy when they feel sick. About 19 per cent of women wanted their mother’s attention during an illness.
The majority of both men and women said their other half would be their first choice of carer. However, Gráinne Seoige and Liam Neeson were also popular choices for a “celebrity nurse”.
Most respondents said their number one port of call when feeling sick is the doctor but some 21 per cent visit the pharmacist first. However, 11 per cent of men said that “nobody cares” that they are sick. Awww!
